"Snake? Snake!? SNAAAAAAAAAAKE!!!" Is the reaction we had when Snake was announced as a playable character in Brawl. Snake is from the world of Metal Gear. In the series, the player takes control of an elite military operative (usually Solid Snake) repeatedly facing off against the latest incarnation of the eponymous superweapon, "Metal Gear", a bipedal walking tank with nuclear launching capabilities. According to first Brawl trailer, Snake was invited to join the cast of Smash Bros. Being the badass he is, he gladly accepted. He is going to be using his stealth and explosives expertise to fight, but Nintendo wont let him use guns, a regrettable fact.

While quite a surprising decision to include a third party character in what was an all Nintendo fighter, its makes a lot of sense. Snake's adventures started out on the NES and have even had a recent incarnation on the GCN. Metal Gear Creator Hideo Kojima of Konami is actually the one that originally requested Snake be part of the game. Hopefully Snake will fit in with the rest of the cast. Even more so, hopefully this opens the door for other third party characters to join.
